Bourne Free Dates and Theme Announced
Yo-Ho-Ho and a bottle of rum (or champagne sweetie!)
It has now been revealed that Bourne Free, Bournemouth's Pride Festival, will be taking over the seaside resort for the weekend of Friday 8th until Sunday 10th of July 2011!
The theme is "Treasure Island" as we see a return to sea-side pride. Expect to see pirates with parrots and wenches in some swash-buckling action, and maybe a few land-locked galleons in the parade to boot.
Pete Lovegrove, Chairman, comments "every year Bourne Free gets bigger and better. It's really great to see so many of the towns residents and visitors taking part in this great annual cultural event". He adds, "We are planning a great weekend of events right in the heart of the town to encourage everyone to join in the celebration of diversity that Bournemouth has to offer."
So dust off your best costume, dig out your pieces of eight, fly your 'jolly-roger' and head down to Bournemouth for a great festival weekend of fun.
The 2010 event attracted thousands of people from across the UK with the "Wild, wild West" themed parade around the town. 2010 saw the return of the spectacular Live Show in the Lower Gardens and an extended Street Party in the Triangle. Even more is planned for 2011, with the Bourne Free Committee already working hard to put together a packed programme of entertainment and has finalised details of a unique new theme.
