CIRCUS is the excellent gay night at The O2 Academy (formerly The Opera House) in Boscombe.
Circus happens the Sunday before Bank Holidays and occasionally at other times during the year such as a Saturday night for 'Bourne Free Circus' and a special Boxing Day Circus!
It's the biggest gay night on the South Coast (the venue has a 2200 capacity).
After a multi-million pound refit the venue is kitted out for some seriously sexy nights out with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems!
CIRCUS regularly attracts top acts and only the best DJs from Bournemouth's very own Gay Scene and National DJ's such as the Freemasons and Wayne G (Heaven, London). The current and most long standing Main Floor resident DJ of Circus is DJ Adrian Dunbar who was the original DJ back in 1984, DJ Chris B who has been involved for 15 years (also promoter of the night) and DJ Kevin Brooks who's been resident DJ for a number of years now and is also the Co-Promoter. DJ Paul 'F1' King is often found closing the main floor with his tough dirty house.
Circus/Bolts celebrated its 25th Birthday in 2009. The original gay night was set up and known as "BOLTS" back in 1984 until it was rebranded in 2007 when the Opera House was refurbished and the night became known as CIRCUS!
